Data Management / Sharing Services — Connectors for Trusted Sharing

Overview

The service provides a deployable dataspace connector for trusted, sovereign, and policy-controlled data sharing in federated dataspace ecosystems. It is based on UM FERI's DSX Engine (a Web3-enabled extension of Eclipse Dataspace Components; EDC) and supports decentralized discovery, identity management, contract negotiation, policy enforcement, secure data transfer, auditable logging, and optional monetization. Each participant deploys its own connector and connects it to internal data sources (databases, APIs, cloud services) while retaining full control over data access and usage conditions. The solution implements the Dataspace Protocol (DSP) and aligns with IDSA principles, enabling interoperability with IDSA-aligned dataspaces and connectivity to CEADS and similar European initiatives. In SLAIF, a dedicated DSX instance will be deployed as a Data Consumer for automated discovery, data browsing/filtration, negotiation, and secure transfer of approved datasets into the SLAIF cloud workspace. The service is based on EDC and DSP, aligned with IDSA specifications, and extended by DSX Engine with blockchain-based components: decentralized discovery on an EVM-compatible consortium network (e.g., Hyperledger Besu), ETHR DID-based connector identity, smart-contract-based clearing for tamper-evident logging of agreements and transfers, custom policy enforcement, and optional token-based monetization with escrow settlement. The solution follows standard control-plane/data-plane separation.

Outcome

A deployable, containerized dataspace connector (or Connector-as-a-Service) integrated with internal infrastructure and ready for interoperable participation in IDSA-aligned dataspaces. The service enables policy-controlled catalog exposure, automated contract negotiation, secure and auditable data transfer, and optional smart-contract-based clearing/monetization. For SLAIF, the outcome is automated visibility over shared dataspace assets and secure transfer of approved datasets into the SLAIF cloud workspace in compliance with data sovereignty and usage policies.
