Services for Evaluating Environmental Indices

Overview

This service provides assessment of various environmental indices, providing decision support in environment management by AI workflows applied over satellite imagery derived land coverage, land use, water and soil health layers, fused with public infrastructure maps and authoritative data. While users are allowed to provide their own indicator evaluation methodology during querying, some preprepared assessments include accessibility of green fields, detection of depreciated areas, and assessments of soil and water quality degradation. The service incorporates multiple separate processing pipelines and different AI models for generating different environmental indices. Regarding the AI models, mostly deep convolutional and fully convolutional neural networks are utilized. Preprocessing, such as generating pixel-wise yearly statistics for each pixel, and postprocessing, such as merging predictions into the selected granularity, is performed using conventional algorithms.

Outcome

Vector maps of selected environmental indices (e.g., detected green spaces, depreciated areas, or user-provided indicators) at selected scale of granularity (i.e., municipality, regional, or national level).
